  1. Spook Up Your Work Look!

    October 9, 2013 by Emily

I don’t know if you know this… but Jenn and I LOVE Halloween… Ok Ok Ok, we know you know. But seriously? Candy, Cocktails, Costumes and Craziness?! Bring.It.On.

I’ve been known to spends weeks (sometimes MONTHS) working on a halloween costume to wear out, but up until now I hadn’t been able to pick out a non-costume outfit to celebrate my favorite holiday. You see, a teacher wearing a costume is super distracting for 36 middle-school students… and I have enough to worry about in my classroom without adding extra distractions.

So how do you tastefully, and subtly express your love for halloween in a work environment? Spook up your look!

Everything is pretty subtle as far as a halloween look and I know for certain I would be wearing these pieces throughout the year!

Unless you just got the internet yesterday or if you’ve been living in a bomb shelter until now, you are probably already aware of 2 amazing things. 1. The Royal Tenenbaums. (If I could be anyone in the world, I would be Margot.) 2. Lucky Jackson, or more appropriately, 365 Lucky Days. One work of art for one year. Stitched art of all kinds of things. See it here.

Now, take my two amazing things and combine them, you get this.

    The Royal Couple

Prints of a lot her work, including this amazing print of Margot and Richie can be found in her Etsy shop. I can’t wait!

I love Etsy. I realize that I am definitely not alone in this statement. Etsy is a magical place that has it all, old, new, handmade, found, and all around cool stuff. I’m still trying to fill my apartment and I needed some inspiration. I tend to lean towards mid-century items and bright colors. Etsy is great for finding furniture and smaller pieces. There are a lot of folks who have expertise in refinishing beat up items. Usually I try my best to keep the vintage stuff unchanged. There’s charm in the scuffs and scrapes and it adds character but sometimes you need to learn when to say goodbye to the old and hello to the new. Even though I will probably never be able to afford some of the things I find, it’s always still fun to look! These are some of the things I’m drooling over..
