Here’s the newest installment of managing your bar! Today’s DIY will show you how you can make your own lavender simple syrup. This is a really great way to add the flavor of lavender without it being overwhelming.
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3 1/2 TBSP culinary lavender*
*you can use regular lavender leaves but it won’t taste as good as culinary lavender. I purchased mine from amazon.
Bring the cup of water and the lavender to a boil. Stir in the sugar and whisk until the sugar has completely dissolved. Whisk another 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool. Using a bar strainer, strain out the lavender.
That’s it! Keep your syrup in a bottle or a jar in the fridge. It will keep for 10 days.
Next time I will show you a cocktail to create from the items we’ve made so far!

A new feature we’ll be bringing to you is cocktail time! We are sassy ladies who enjoy a good solid drink every now and then. My newest favorite is made with bourbon…
I’m not a big fan of cocktails that taste like they’re only made with liquor, that’s why this one sticks out. The ginger syrup is delicious and adds flavor to the bourbon without overpowering it. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 3 oz. Makers Mark
- 2 oz. Pellegrino
- 1 Tbsp Ginger simple syrup
- Splash of Lemon juice (fresh is best)
This formula will fill a small glass, if you’re using a full size glass then times all ingredients by 2 except the bourbon, only use 5 oz. Pour all ingredients in a shaker, shake and pour over ice.
Ginger simple syrup is delicious and it’s not just for cocktails. (I put it in my hot tea as well)
An easy recipe for ginger syrup can be found here.
As always, drink responsibly. <3

Have I mentioned I’m lucky? Ok, Ok not in all manners but you’ll understand when I tell you…. My parents press their own cider. From apple trees that grow in their backyard. Sure it’s a huge ordeal and makes a mess, but I get to enjoy the most amazing apple cider (and hard cider…thanks dad!) I’ve ever had.
I’m not ready for the undertaking of making my own hard cider, but I am willing to use the cider my parents have given me for other types of adult beverages! I’ve seen a lot of post and pictures for Apple Pie Liqueur, and I had to make it for my friends housewarming party!
